Updates
March 2010
February remained a very busy and active month for Brett and Donna. Donna continues to work through many things surrounding the January death of her mother, Dorothy "Dot" Giessler. As most of us know, the passing of any life involves many paperwork and routine changes, as well as the emotional work. Donna, her father Hali, and the rest of the family are working through these processes better than any I've seen in similar circumstances. I praise God for that blessed family community.
Brett's work at the nuclear plant and as an adjunct instructor are keeping him unusually busy. The power plant is preparing for routine refueling, which involves brining many contract workers on site who need to be trained. Brett is an integral part of that process. His work as an adjunct instructor at Lake Michigan College has been rewarding, but it, too takes quite a bit of time to prepare, as both the course and material are new.
Even so - both Brett and Donna have been able to continue their weekly Saturday services at Nursing homes with their friend Chuck. We see blessings of some kind or another each time we join together with the elderly for these special times of worship.
Our work with our churches also continues to be consistently blessed. Donna's church is working through a number of planning issues that demands a lot of attention. We are as yet uncertain of the impact on both her work as the music minister and both our work in leading the Bible Study, but we are confident in the Lord's hand, whatever the direction.
Our Tuesday night shut-in visitation also remains blessed and consistent. Our handful of dear ones whom we call our "Precious Pennies" welcome us with dear and open arms. The Lord may call a couple of them home soon, so we look at our times with them as particularly blessed.
Our Wednesday night work with the LCCC choir has come to its natural end. So many of the members have passed away that the ministry is no longer needed at this time. In Abba's wonderful ordering, the end of that ministry coincided with the beginning of a prayer group study at Brett's church on Wednesday evenings. We've already attended the first session and believe this is exactly where we need to be right now.
Brett continues to restructure this website to be a resource and place to stimulate redeeming thoughts for discouraged Christians. Several new pages have been added to the Ponderings page which describe how people become excluded from their church communities - often known as being "dechurched."
Brett does keep a personal blog at his BookMark61 Xanga blogsite. Many of his Christian thought blog posts have been selected as "Featured Blogs" on the main Revelife Christian website because of the interest in the subject and the recommendation of the readers. Feel free to stop by!
We've also added a regular blog exclusively for visitors to this website. It's also located on the "Ponderings" page. It is Brett's goal that he will be more diligent in posting thoughts on this page in 2010.
Please remember that we are posting summaries of our weekly Bible Studies in our Lilac Ministry section of this website. We hope they might be a bit of daily manna for you.
